Bold and British

While watching The Royal Wedding today, I wondered how I could incorporate some part of it into my blog. The wedding wasn't Halloween themed (how cool would that have been?) but some of the hats I saw today were bold enough to be part of a Halloween costume. I'm trying to make a segue here. :)

These hats were so elaborate (and in some cases bizarre). I realize that British styles are different from American styles, so these might look a little foreign to us Americans. I did like some of the fascinators I saw, though.

So here are some of the boldest hats from today.

Princess Beatrice

Miriam Gonzalez Durantez
The wife of Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg
(I admit to liking this one)
Tara-Palmer-Tomkinson (in the boat-like hat)

The following aren't from The Royal Wedding, but they are British and over-the-top!

So, what do you guys think? Would any of the ladies reading this be bold enough to wear one of these sculptural hats?

  1. Oh, I'm quite sure Bea is sporting a squid, not a hat lol!

  2. Yeah, that hat has been compared to a lot of things online. :) What I'm wondering is how she kept it on her head!

  3. I thought the same thing as I watched the wedding. Some of the "fascinators" were more terrifying than any Halloween costume!

  4. :) Well, I think they could be a good part of a costume if you wanted to dress as a tropical bird. I was feeling sorry for some of the people sitting behind these hats in the church!

  5. Hahaha! When I saw Princess Beatrice's hat I actually laughed! She looked ridiculous! It looked more like something Lady GaGa would wear!

LOL at the old woman with the crazy pink hat! xxx

  6. That's what I said yesterday! I thought Princess Beatrice's hat looked like Lady Gaga's lobster hat. I also thought the pink hat you mentioned looked like a whole outfit Lady Gaga wore. It's the kind of look that reminds me of a school science project about the solar system. :) I'm thinking the pink hat is made of hula hoops?

  7. Biff ~ I had to google Sonny Jim to know what you meant. I think I know now! Where did you pick that term up?
