Every week I enjoy watching the CBS Sunday Morning program. Today's show featured a fun and quirky segment about a real life knife thrower. This performer goes by the name: "The Great Throwdini". He's a minister by day and a knife thrower by night. So I guess he's keeping his life balanced. Here's a video clip of the segment I watched:
As I watched The Great Throwdini do his thing, I tried to imagine what it's like to be the girl on the wheel. His assistant seemed strangely calm. Either she is very trusting or it takes a lot to phase her. I wonder if it is more stressful to have her role or the role of the knife thrower?

I ran across a video which should win the award for "Most Impressive use of a Throwzini". I bet it's exciting to visit this guy's house!
While giving this much thought to knives, I was reminded of one of my favorite scenes from Pulp Fiction. You'll know what I mean by the time you get to the middle of the clip.
If the "Fox Force Five" show did exist, I'd probably be watching it!

I've always wanted to be a knife thrower myself, just like Huck Finn and his ol' paps. The Butcher from Gangs of New York was awesome too! I think I'm going to Google how to throw a knife now!

ReplyDeleteL ~ Knife throwing does look fun! I'd just be afraid to throw knives at people, or around them anyway. Maybe throwing them at some kind of bullseye would be more my speed? Oh, I bet you'll find lots of knife throwing instructions online. Let me know if you find any good tips! Oh, and here's another resource for you. :)

Oh, yeah. Bill The Butcher was truly horrifying. The mid 1800s were rough for European immigrants. I think that movie was actually realistic. Daniel Day Lewis was seriously convincing in his role.

Surely that assistant needs to be "medicated" in some way to get through that? Or, perhaps she's a cyborg sent back from the future?
ReplyDeleteI do like the Throwzini knife block! I wonder if it comes with a black wheel? Hmmm... I can see this product being used as a defence in a crime: "But, Your Honour, I was aiming for the Throwzini!"

ReplyDeleteOh, I love your Throwzini murder defense! That's actually better than some criminal defenses I've heard. I don't believe that the wheel comes in black, although since it's made of wood, I'd think you'd be able to paint it.
