More colorful skulls at a local restaurant

The Day of the Dead celebrations are continuing on my blog as I share some new photos with you! You might remember a picture I took of a skeleton that was on top of someone's car during the parade. The skeleton had a moving body made of pipes and was there to advertise a restaurant called Riviera Maya. My mom and I decided to check it out.

The restaurant was so cool! There were plenty of artistic decorations there and we were told that the sculptures and paintings change. So there's a reason to keep coming back! (That and the super nice service and food.)

This is the bar area:

A large paper mache skeleton couple stood next to our table.

This is part of the mural that covers much of the wall. I don't know what's going on here, but it doesn't look good for that one guy!

Mom took this one of the little demon skeleton. There's a neat glass gun behind it. I think that was a liquor container at one point.

After we ate lunch, we were told that there was an entire side room of art if we'd like to look at it. Of course we wanted to look, so they nicely opened it for us.

This might scare a few of you...

With all the spooky clown stuff I've seen, I don't think I've ever seen a skeleton clown. It was pretty large and hovering above us. The clown was cool and a little imposing in the dark room!

This is awesome! Do you think it's a dragon?

Another mural:

I'm pretty sure I saw this Marilyn skeleton in the Day of the Dead gallery show years back.

A lounging skeleton:

This one was so cute - a ballerina skeleton:

Aww... I  love her eyelashes.

A dragon or lizard crawling down the wall:

A button nose:

A cute little ladybug and sunflower skull:

I'm not sure what he is. An evil cannonball? I really like this, whatever he is.

I hope you enjoyed this second set of pictures. I also wanted to share a song I found while looking for Day of the Dead music. I love this:

Alcatraz ER Restaurant

This has been quite a week for me to learn new things from twitter! La Carmina is someone I just started following on that site. She is an author, Japanese Goth fashion blogger, and travel TV host. She has a unique taste in things both cute and creepy!

I was paging through her blog and watching a few of her videos today, when I ran into a video about Japanese theme restaurants. We don't have anything like these in America (at least not that I know of) but I wish we did! In the following video, La Carmina guides the host of "Bizarre Foods" through a theme restaurant named Alcatraz ER.  When you see the inside of this restaurant and the food being served there, you will understand why I posted this video to my Halloween blog. :)

If you would like to see more of what La Carmina is up to, here is her blog: http://www.lacarmina.com/blog/
