One of the coolest Halloween events in our area was going on this past weekend. A couple nights ago, my mom and I went to the Pumpkin Pavilion in Bayview. You guys might remember seeing some pics from that last year. The event is held in a large, dark park. After climbing up over a hill, you find yourself looking at hundreds of very well carved pumpkins. There is music, a magician, and some genuinely creepy decorations.
So I barely even know where to begin with this because I took so many photos! I think I'll alternate between pumpkins and decorations to keep things fresh. So the first thing you see coming up the hill are these awesome jellyfish hanging from the trees:
Then as you near the pumpkins and the main building, you see this welcoming creature.
And then you see the first pumpkin display!
Closing in a bit... I love the bearded one and Grumpy Cat.
At least I'm reading that as a beard. If it's not a beard... ?

This little monster was one of my favorites.
I think if you turned this one upside down, you'd still see a face.
Now after passing that initial cool pumpkin display, you see some super creepy figures. I'm happy with my photos, because I think I caught their creepiness.

I keep trying to figure out what's going on with the back of his head. Is that brain matter coming out? It looks like a set of teeth for some reason.
And from the front - Woo! That looks pretty real and confrontative for a prop, doesn't it?

And for some reason after all that, I'm spooked by these pumpkins. They just seem so sinister.

These decorations were standing next to the main building. If you peered in the windows, you might very well see something peering back at you.

This looks like a face from a painting I've seen.
OK, I'm sure this one is kind of hard to understand from a photo, but the way I read this is that it's a pumpkin wearing underwear. If you see the cut out part as the underwear.
This one is a definite favorite!
And this... I'd like to talk with whoever made this to understand the concept. I know it's hard to see here but it is a sort of tipi shaped structure made of big branches. The branches are built up around a tree. We passed it on the way in and on the way out. On the way in, there were several children running circles round and round the inside of this.
At the end of the night, the kids were gone and I decided to go in there to see what it was like. To my surprise, I looked up to see this. There were very real skulls and bones hanging above my head all the way around the tree trunk. It's pretty spooky to be the only one in there and not have gone in expecting that! All I could think was "And on the next episode of Criminal Minds" because it reminded me of an episode of that show.
So there you go! And that's not even all the photos I took. There was just so much to see. You're almost distracted with trying to figure out where to look next at an event like this. I'm sure this will continue to be a tradition for us.
