It's officially December! I'm feeling the Christmas spirit, so it seems like the perfect time to mention an idea I've had swimming around in my head. Would anyone be up for a holiday card exchange? I was thinking it would be fun to exchange cards with a story or poem inside. Given that this is a Halloween blog, I'm up for exchanging spooky stories or poems. Or if you're a traditionalist, you could send a Christmas story or poem. If you're feeling really creative, you could send something that's a combination of the two!
Just photocopy or print out a favorite, fold it up, and mail it to me in a Christmas card and I'll do the same for you. I think this could be a lot of fun! I would love to send and receive more Christmas cards, while looking forward to a few surprises.
Just leave me a comment if you're interested or send me an email. I plan to post a recording of myself telling stories for Christmas like I did on Halloween. Maybe I could read some of what I'm sent!
I like the idea. Christmas used to be the time for ghost stories traditionally - hence A Christmas Carol.
ReplyDeleteMidnyte Reader ~ That's right! You don't get more classic than that story. I just sent you an email with my information.
DeleteThis sounds like a fun idea! I'll try and think of an ooky Christmas horror poem!
ReplyDeleteI'll have to work hard though. Even before I aced poetry classes in school, I already had a massive knowldge on all the poet greats, but when it came to actually writing poetry, I stank harder than the swamp from Labyrinth.
Chris ~ Cool! I look forward to receiving your "ooky Christmas horror poem". :)
DeleteHaha! "I stank harder than the swamp from Labyrinth." I'm laughing out loud over here. Oh, there's no way your poetry was stinking that much! You can send me a favorite poem written by someone else if nothing comes to mind, but I am kind of curious about what you might think up...
I'll send you an email with my address info.
Hhm, I need to send out Christmas Cards anyhow. Sure I'll participate!
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm looking forward to hearing your Christmas stories. You know, Christmas is a traditional time for ghost stories, many of the best ones occur on Christmas Eve.
Mantan ~ Awesome! I don't think we've shared email addresses, so if you send an email to me at: contactartgirl@gmail.com we can get the ball rolling!
DeleteI've heard that Christmas Eve was a traditional time for telling ghost stories. The only one I can seem to think of is "A Christmas Carol". Jacob Marley and The Ghost of Christmas Future were pretty spooky for a Christmas story. I also remember the lyrics to "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year"
"There'll be scary ghost stories
And tales of the glories of
Christmases long, long ago"
Yet, I can't seem to think of many Christmas ghost stories! Hopefully you'll all clue me into some.
I will most definitely send you a Christmas card; although to be honest, you were on my list anyway. ;) I love the idea of sending a Christmas poem along with it! Count me in.
ReplyDeleteMarisa ~ Cool! Yeah, we were going to be exchanging Christmas cards anyway, but this will be an added bonus. :) I'll look for a festive Christmas poem for you!
DeleteYayyyy!!!! I'm totally in!!! I have a great idea for a creepy/fun Christmas card.
ReplyDeleteHeidi ~ I am so glad to hear it! :) Do you still have my address on hand or should I send it to you? I still have yours if you're in the same place.
DeleteI'm In sounds fun!
ReplyDeleteBob ~ Great! Glad to hear it. :) I know we have current addresses for one another, so we should be good to go!
DeleteI would love to send one but not sure I have the thought process to come up with a poem or story.
ReplyDeleteMark ~ Oh, you don't have to think up an original poem or story. If you'd like, you could send a print out of one from an old Christmas book or something you found online. Or you could paraphrase a story or poem you've heard. If you're up for doing any of those things, shoot me an email with your address!
DeleteHey lady! I am still at the same address :) I do need yours again. Thanks!!! :)
ReplyDeleteHeidi ~ Hey! Sounds good. :) I'll send you an email with my address right now. I am so looking forward to this exchange!
