At least I'm assuming that you will like her work as much as I do. (Since this is a Halloween themed blog). She worked with some pretty mysterious themes and I'm guessing a lot of people would interpret her work differently. I think each of these paintings could inspire a cool short story.
Remedios Varo was a Spanish surrealist painter who lived from 1908 to 1963. She lived in Mexico later on in life. If you would like to see more of her paintings, here is an online gallery of them:

Those are pretty cool. My favorites are the second one from the top and the second one from the bottom. Makes me think of paganism.
ReplyDeleteI can see what you're saying about the Paganism. I'm thinking there are probably all sorts of symbols in these paintings. My favorite is probably the second one from the top as well. I love the movement in that painting. It's haunted and joyful at the same time! :)
ReplyDeleteIt's very joyful!!! The colours are so bright and warm. Who doesn't love an anti-gravity party?
ReplyDeleteEthereal, eh?
ReplyDeleteHa! An anti-gravity party :) Yes, red-handed, her work is very ethereal!
