I'm glad to finally be posting this! It took a little time for me to separate all the many Michaels photos I took into different categories. That and blogger is having some issues, or is it just me? Anyway, this post is going to be on the darker side. I could have even broken the "dark" category down into subcategories, like what I'll call the "Witchy" section. That's what I'm starting with.
Kind of a Victorian curio cabinet:
Not sure if you can tell, but these are pillows.
I think these "books" were actually ceramic.
I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of people are decorating with the "Witchy" decor year round.
These are actually candles! I could never burn something like this, because it would be a shame to watch the design melt. I'm having some memory now of these little cat candles (I think from the 90s) that would have some little charm in them. Once the little cat was gone, you got what was inside. I do remember being given one of those and burning it to get the treat inside. But without that incentive, I wouldn't have burned it!
Hey, speaking of cat candles! I could burn this one. Same with the heart. The heart feels a little too close to some actual witchy candles.
OK, so the second subcategory would be Romeo & Juliet themed. As you can see, this theme was kind of rough. At least it was for me. I was like "Yikes" when I saw this.
More yikes.
I like this, though. It's subtly spooky with that spider and that little "FATE" on the hand.
Did you see the knife or the couple? I saw the knife first. Each person is a different door to the cabinet.
Again, holy smokes. Decaying people with anatomic hearts. This theme was just too much for me. But then, I always found Romeo & Juliet depressing.
Onto some lighter darkness. 😄 Although, as you might know, I am seriously freaked out by creepy twins.
Actually, these are pretty creepy individually.
How cool is this mirror? The branches are obviously great, but I like the aging done to the mirror. I did something like this once and I'm trying to remember how I did it. I was wanting to say salt and vinegar but I might have sprinkled water on top of drying silver spray paint. Anyway, I have a small regular mirror that looks similar.
It would be neat if the crow would do something on the hour, but I'm not sure if that happens.

This is a close-up of a pillow. It's always a challenge to photograph black velvet. This one had some nice lace.
This glass coffin is one of my favorite objects in the "dark" category.
This is genuinely eerie. I'm not sure if that comes through here, but in person it does.
These are definitely vintage-inspired! Although, I feel like they should be in cranberry glass.
This cawing crow is made of metal. Looking at this now, it reminds me of a lot of some metal rooster decorations I've seen. Hey, that doorknob behind it is pretty cool. And I don't even remember that wreath!
I'm not sure what this is exactly, but I like it. All I can say is that it is made of wood and reminds me of an advent calendar.
So there we have it! The darkest Michaels has to offer this year. And I would say some of this is surprisingly dark. I hardly expected to have the reaction I did to some of that Romeo & Juliet material. 🌹 Wait until you see the next blog post. What's coming up is much more to my taste!
