Some Rotters arrived in the mail today!

I was fortunate enough to win a generous prize from Dex who runs the AEIOU... and Sometimes Why blog. He's a funny guy, who writes about spooky topics. I recommend following him!

The fun part about winning Dex's contest was that I had no idea what I was going to win! There were many possible prizes offered, including a rock.

The prize I won was a book titled Rotters by Daniel Kraus. It has an awesome graveyard on the cover, and from what I can tell, it's about grave robbing. Or cemeteries, anyway. I really look forward to reading this!

There's a realistic, life sized fly printed on the book's cover. It fooled me a little at first!

Dex was also nice enough to send me an eyeball shaped goodie bag that was filled with treats. I received candy, and glow in the dark critters. It was a fun surprise!

Can you see this glowing ghoul's shadow in the next photo? I love those little spiders.

Hopefully the rain will cease by tomorrow, because there are a lot of Day of the Dead events going on around Milwaukee! I plan to take some photos to share with you guys, if I'm able to attend these events.

Please remember! You're all invited to my virtual Halloween party....

I've decided on October 27th for that. So, if you have any photos of yourself in costume, from any time in your life, please send them to:

contactartgirl@gmail.com

I will add a link to your blog beneath your photo. I think the Halloween party will be an entertaining blog post!

  1. The book looks wonderful. What a great idea for a Halloween party. I'll have to see if I can find a picture for your party!

  2. Jessica ~ Yeah, the plot sounds good and suspenseful! So it should make some perfect Halloween reading.

Awesome! So far, I've only been sent one picture, so I'd appreciate that. :)

  3. Awesome! The book sounds really neat. It's a plot that I can really dig. :) Who doesn't like a good stroll among the tombstones?

Oh, I have several photos of myself at Halloween in the morgue, ah, family album. I'll see what I can resurrect.

  4. Haha! Yeah, I meant to fit the "dig" line in there somewhere, and forgot! Cemeteries are peaceful, but I don't think I'd like to explore them in the way this book's characters are.

Wonderful! I had planned to ask you if you had a photo to share. Yeah, dig around in the morgue and find me something good! :)

  5. Boy, you win a lot of contests! Do you enter a lot of them, or are you just a extraordinarily lucky gal?

The book looks great. You'll have to do a review for us when you've read it. I'm very envious of your glow in the dark critters. Especially the skull "Grrrr Arrrgh" monster. At least that's what I think it is... a little finger puppet?! That's what they called them on an episode of 'Buffy'. It was an in-joke about the "Grrrr Arrrgh" monster in the end credits. I've got a couple, but not a white skull one. It's so adorable!!

I hope it stops raining for your Day of the Dead festivities in Milwaukee. (We're watching the first season of 'That '70s Show' at the moment, so I keep thinking about you because it's set in Wisconsin!)

None of my photos are any good for the party. They're all lame, unfortunately.

  6. The prize looks wonderful.

Thanks for the info on the party, I was just going to ask about it today.

I wish we had Day of the Dead events around here. Have fun and take lots of pics.

  7. What a fun prize! You had mentioned you might win a rock, so I'm happy you won this prize:-) I may just have to borrow it from you.

I love the wide eyed pic of you with the book and candle, it's great!

  8. Little Gothic Horrors ~ Kind of both. I know I win more contests than is normal, but that's why I keep trying for more! I read about a study on people who consider themselves lucky. They're more willing to try for things, because they think winning is a possibility!

Haha! I love those little critters too. No, the little ghoulie isn't a finger puppet. I know what you're talking about, though. I had a little red gremlin looking finger puppet like that as a kid. It had these little rubber arms that would shake about. So entertaining! I think the ghoulie I have is more of a bookmark. I had lots of fun posing him around for my little photo shoot. There are plenty more pics of him!

I remember the "Grr... Arg!" thing at the end of Buffy. Wow. You're taking me back in time here. :)

Today is sunny and bright and it is probably about 60 degrees out now. So I think the weather is all clear for tonight. I can't wait!

Oh, how funny about That 70's Show. Imagine you watching a show about Wisconsin all the way in Australia! It has its entertaining moments. I liked Fez. :) Don't judge us on that show, though! I like when people think of us because of Laverne and Shirley and Happy Days.

Oh, come on! All your photos can't be lame. Besides, you have a whole week to come up with something! Poke some holes in a paper plate and wear it as a mask, if you're strapped for time. :)

Vivienne ~ It is a wonderful prize! I can't wait to begin reading this.

Good! I can't wait to see you costume. I hope there's some participation in this!

I will take lots of pics tonight. Are you sure there are no Day of the Dead events around? I found about this by googling "Day of the Dead Milwaukee" Maybe if you do the same, you'll find something in your area.

Stacey ~ Hey there! I thought you were at the convention already! Haha, yeah I was not the rock recipient. :) Sure! It might be a book you'd enjoy. I cracked into the Southern Vampire stories book you lent me. I read The Silver Coffin. It was pretty nontraditional.

Thanks! :) I think I look pretty believably scared in that one... I had tried to pose with a shovel too, but that got way too complicated. Between pretending to read, looking scared, and holding a candle, there wasn't room for anything else!

Hey! So, I hope you have a photo on hand for the blog party... I know there should be a picture of you from when we've hung out on Halloween.

  11. Congrats on winning, the book looks like it's awesome. I hope you'll do a review!

I hope it stops raining so you can enjoy your Day of the Dead. :(

Yay, virtual party! I'll have to dig up some pictures or maybe just recycle the old ones I have. :P

  12. Real Queen of Horror ~ Thank you! :) I should do a review. I think a lot of the people who read this blog would be interested in the book's topic.

We ended up with a great day! For WI at this time of year, it was amazing. Mid 60's with sunshine. So I was able to make it out to the Day of the Dead event. I took tons of photos and can't wait to share them on here!

I'm glad you're interested in the party! Any photo will do ~ new or old. I can't wait to see what you send me. :)
