Even if you're a huge fan of the genre, zombies just don't have the mystique or glamour of the vampire. And thank you for saying I'm too nice to go around biting people! Haha!

I just listened to James Earl Jones reciting 'The Raven' on YouTube recently. I also watched a clip of John Astin (Gomez Addams) reciting it as well. John Astin apparently did some kind of theatre production based on Poe. It's very hard to go past James Earl Jones' version because his voice is so beautiful, but John Astin's version is really interesting because it's quite fast and there is a sense of building hysteria and madness.

Yeah, I love the quotes you picked, as well. I get so used to referencing favourite quotes with family and friends, that I often use them without thinking with other people, and they look at me with a blank expression.Little Gothic Horrorshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18315631250163742387noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8795347148428519606.post-30163189706528874932011-10-02T14:27:25.570-05:002011-10-02T14:27:25.570-05:00Real Queen of Horror ~ Oh? I like a few of their songs, but I more admire their creativity and spirit. They would probably both be fun to hang out with, especially on Halloween!

Thanks for saying that! It was actually kind of hard for me to admit that I'm not much into zombies, because everyone else is! Not that we can't all have different opinions. I just didn't want to offend any hardcore zombie fans. I agree that a lot of people are into zombies, because zombies are the current trend.

I haven't watched True Blood, although I'd probably check it out if I had cable. I'm more of a vampire person. I think that sex scenes are the major reason a few shows are being watched! There actually is a guy on that show that would make it worth watching for me...

People wanting to go through an apocalypse? What the heck! Life is hard enough as it is.

I know what you mean. Sometimes I've had an interest, and enjoyed being the one quirky person with that interest. Then a bunch of other people come along and say they like whatever it is, because it's trendy. I feel like saying "No you don't!"

Monkey Man ~ Thanks! I still have a ways to go too. I never been of fan of music or his movies.

I think it's fine if you aren't obsessed with zombies, you have a brain of your own & your not a follower. Lol. I think for some people they aren't really a fan, just going with the trends. Like I remember when True Blood show came out, I only knew one other person who watched it. Then all of sudden, people who told me they don't like horror liked the show. Unless they were watching it for the sex scenes or a particular person...I found that a bit strange. Or maybe people the obsession with zombies for some people come from them wanting to go through the apocalypse. Survival. But I also do believe it's mainly for exactly what you said, every era had a famous monster.

I always been a zombie geek, I've been prepping like a geek since I was like 4. :PReal Queen of Horrorhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06786342064401390635noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8795347148428519606.post-51060796035931488572011-10-02T11:08:50.534-05:002011-10-02T11:08:50.534-05:00Little Gothic Horrors ~ That's pretty impressi...Little Gothic Horrors ~ That's pretty impressive! Oh, so some people didn't post zombie blog entries. Uh oh, they've been caught now! ;) Oh, I know what you mean. Sometimes projects that I think will only take a little time, end up taking all day to accomplish!

Well, that's kind of you to say. Although, I'm afraid I came across as more of a victim than a hero in that one. I'd rather go down fighting instead of laying there like a gazelle as all the lions eat me! I can't see you as a zombie actually. You're too nice to go around biting people!

The Simpson's version of The Raven is a classic. James Earl Jones has a great voice. I love these parts of that episode:

When Lisa is reading a copy of The Raven, and Bart suspiciously notes that it is a school book. Lisa replies, "Don't worry, Bart, you won't learn anything." Then she begins to read the poem.

Also...

Bart: Lisa, that wasn't scary, not even for a poem.

Lisa: Well, it was written in 1845. Maybe people were easier to scare back then.

Bart: Oh, yeah. Like when you look at Friday the 13th, part one. It's pretty tame by today's standards.

I love the Potassium Benzoate quote too! :) Yeah, I'm often joking about mean people that they've been switched to evil like the Krusty doll! Sounds like you'd actually get that joke. Mostly, people go "Uh... yeah."

I can't wait to see the Simpson's Halloween Special this year! I think I heard that it will actually be aired before Halloween this year.

Vain Glory Sinner ~ Translyvanian Concubine is awesome! Do you have the Marlyn Manson mix of that? I like what he's done with Rasputina more than I like his own music for the most part!

I will never tire of listening to Paint it Black.

Yeah, I'll be looking up your suggestions too! I could use some new Halloween songs.

Halloweenman666 ~ Thank you! :) Yeah, he does great video work. I love his creative mind. I stupidly thought I'd manage it in a couple of hours.

At least in Kweeny's story you died a hero! I believe Autumnforest hit me in the head with a shoe while I was munching on your arm, yet apparently I was too "lazy" to care. Hahaha!

I would have to say that "Treehouse of Horror III", which is the one that pic is from, would be my favourite. I do like the 'The Raven', in "Treehouse I", but "Dial 'Z' For Zombies" and "Clown Without Pity"are hilarious. We're always quoting those episodes.

Store Owner: Take this object, but beware it carries a terrible curse!
Homer: [worried] Ooooh, that's bad.
Owner: But it comes with a free Frogurt!
Homer: [relieved] That's good.
Owner: The Frogurt is also cursed.
Homer: [worried] That's bad.
Owner: But you get your choice of topping!
Homer: [relieved] That's good.
Owner: The toppings contains Potassium Benzoate. I'm actually not sure how the rum fits in here, but I'll take it! Yeah, the duct tape Wiki page is more extensive than you might think. I learned on there that duct tape is not even intended for use on ducts. Go figure.

Little Gothic Horrors ~ Haha! Good 'ol Reuben (or Rube) :) OK, so you read and commented on every one of the zombie posts? Did you skip sleeping and eating? I made it through maybe ten of them and was burnt out. I know what you mean about the zombified comments. To be honest, I don't remember half of what I wrote last night. I went to bed wondering if everything I wrote made sense!

Oh, yeah I read the story in which you took a bite out of my arm. Very descriptive! That story was a bloodbath, and it was all my blood. Hmm....
Good Jessica Rabbit defense. I remember that part in the movie. :)

I love that picture too. That's about as pretty as a zombie can look. Assuming the Living Dead Girl is even a zombie. The jury is sort of out on that one. I googled Siobhan Fahey and in some pictures she does resmemble the Living Dead Girl.

Ha! I see you know your Simpson's Halloween specials! I am way too obsessed with those. Do you have a favorite one?

Yeah, I seriously need to rent Hocus Pocus this month...

Vain Glory Sinner ~ Have you been going through all the zombie blog entries as well? I didn't make it through them all, because there were so many!

A human rump or two. :) Oh how funny and gross! Seriously, people would buy that book.

Great mix of Halloween songs! I have to look a couple of them up, but for the most part these are all a part of my collection. Definitely Ghost Town. Psycho Killer! Another one that is lots of fun to sing. I would only add a little Loreena McKinnett for that soft, fairy, witch effect. Also some Rasputina is needed! Their song, Transylvanian Concubine is a must have! The Manheim Steamroller Halloween CD adds a lot of atmosphere too. There are some great old classical songs, like Funeral March of the Marionette, and Toccata in DeMole. Also... The Rolling Stones' Paint it Black, the theme song from The Alfred Hitchcock Show, and anything from The Rocky Horror soundtrack. That should about cover it. :)

Rian ~ I had to look up both of those bands. The Schoolyard Heroes were good and gothy. Kind of like vampire rock. I was sort of getting into the song and then there was a lot of screaming. Woah! The singer looked pretty dramatic and intense/possessed.

It looks like the members of Toxic Zombie dress the part! They've got some good guitarists. This zombie walk has seriously left me in a zombie state, so apologies in advance if my commenting is absolutely incoherent. I have diligently visited every blog. In order. She reminds me a bit of Siobhan Fahey (Bananarama/Shakespeare's Sister).

Love the zombie story on 'The Simpsons', too, especially the hollow sound when they tap on Homer's head. So that should be an interesting reply...I hope you get blogging - I've missed reading your thoughts.

Eric ~ Yeah, the band "The Zombies" is awesome. I actually had thought about them after writing this. So, there is technically one more zombie thing I like. :)

Adsila ~ Thanks! Yay, two of you recognized him. :) I need to watch Hocus Pocus again. It's been a long time! I used to love that movie when I was younger. I know what you mean, but that term sounds like killer bees or something. :) Well, I saw I AM LEGEND on a date that was going horribly. (This was a last date.) My date was yelling about the guy reading a book with a book light throughout the movie and threatening to throw things at him. So I was a little distracted at the time. From what I gathered, the film was about zombies. It was also very depressing. I get that the ending was somewhat optimistic, but eeehhh.... I'm just not into end of the world stuff. There was a brief moment where I saw the cartoon version of the Living Dead Girl in the video above! Other than that it was kind of a weird mixture of a badass topless witch on a motorcycle and a bunch of vintage looking Halloween critters. :)

Vain Glory Sinner ~ I like making Halloween mixed CDs too! They're fun to have on hand for the party and when the kids come by for trick-or-treating. I think Living Dead Girl is strangely the only Rob Zombie song on one of my mixes! The others you mentioned are great choices too. The Boogieman song is a necessity. How is that not on my Halloween mix? What other bands are you including?

Ooh... So you like those other kinds of zombies! That probably makes you more normal than me. :) Yeah, I've seen those handbooks. A guy I went to college with was always buried in his "how to survive a zombie apocalypse" book, but he wouldn't let me see it. I guess he didn't want me to survive in the event of an actual apocalypse. I'm not really kidding!

Oh, a book on how to catch or cook humans is a great idea! I bet you could actually sell that. Get cracking! Any ideas for some recipes? That actually reminds me of another Simpson's Halloween special. The one where the aliens abduct the Simpsons and Lisa finds their cookbook...

The Burial Ground movie sounds twisted! Yeah, no zombies are required in making that a messed up plot line.

"Looking for a bit of brain" That's classic! :) Yeah, they have definitely changed over the years. 28 Days Later did shake things up a little.
