A beautiful pumpkin day at Steins

It's time for the yearly trip to Steins! Yesterday was the beautiful sunny day I'd been waiting for to take some pictures there. When I say it was a pumpkin day, I mean ceramic pumpkins. They had some neat new ones this year. We'll start off with my favorite:

That's one sassy pumpkin in the hat.

This little cutie was new this year.

These were new as well. They have kind of a sugar skull look. I would like to see these painted with bright colors in comparison to the white paint.

This is a little itty bitty. Those are pie pumpkins behind it to give you an idea of scale. Oddly, those pie pumpkins were the largest real pumpkins for sale at Steins.

Sort of a Jack Skellington look:

I think this ceramic owl planter technically fits the Halloween theme.

On to some real pumpkins! This photo is my computer wallpaper right now.

I love those tiny striped pumpkins!

I'm trying to figure out this "Fish Rich" crate. Could this be fertilizer related?

I bet you guys remember these planters.

And mums, mums, mums, as far as the eye could see!

I call these "popcorn mums".

As you can see, these "Medusa Onions" were pretty popular with the bees, which were flying all over the place as I leaned in for a picture.

Inside the store, there were a few shelves of Halloween decorations. I think I saw more on the shelves last year. Either stores didn't order as much Halloween stuff this year or people got out early and did a lot of shopping. Anyway, here are a few of my favorite indoor decorations.

I thought this was pretty cute for a vulture. Looking at the vulture now, I'm noticing how glamorous it is with that glittery gold belly.

A creepy scarecrow Voodoo doll?

Look at these little tough guys! They're like some kind of Medieval weapon. Like a mace without the stick. I wasn't going to pick them up!

Witchy shoes that someone had already decorated with a spider. I liked the spider on there, so I left it. I think these would look cool with smaller orange spiders on the buckles.

Do you see the bat-shaped mouth on this rustic cat?

And lastly, here's a bit of the window display out front. That wood pumpkin is looking good with all those flowers!

I think I really will put up those car show pics in the next blog post! I know I keep saying I will and then other things happen and I share those other things. 😄 There's a lot going on at this time of year!

P.S. ~ If you guys are into making miniatures, I found a really fun video. It's a how-to for making a miniature Frankenstein lab that also functions as a tiny Zen Garden. Here's the video:

  1. The pumpkins look huge in the photos, but I'm assuming they are tabletop size? Love the flowers. You can never have too many while the weather still holds.

    1. Alison ~ The ceramic pumpkins were actually pretty darn huge! I'd say they were around 2 1/2 ft tall. And the real pumpkins were pretty dinky. They didn't have any standard size pumpkins there, which I found surprising.

And I agree about the flowers. It's still nice to see so much color out there. There are always mums to see at this time of year, but we're lucky to still have a lot of different flowers blooming around here.

  2. Justine - I think everyone did shop early this year. I am amazed at how stuff has sold out already in the stores. It seems to me that if we don't start blogging about Halloween shopping in August and September, we are gonna miss the season altogether.

    1. Lady M ~ Haha! I know, right? Christmas has been out for some time in the stores. I'm half-expecting to see Valentine's Day stuff out soon. ;)
